"Remove" is a word in ENGLISH
The act of resetting a horse's shoe.
To cause to leave a person or thing; to cause to cease
to be; to take away; hence, to banish; to destroy; to put an end to; to
kill; as, to remove a disease.
To dismiss or discharge from office; as, the President
removed many postmasters.
That which is removed, as a dish removed from table to make
room for something else.
The transfer of one's business, or of one's domestic
belongings, from one location or dwelling house to another; -- in the
United States usually called a move.
The state of being removed.
The act of removing; a removal.
The distance or space through which anything is removed;
interval; distance; stage; hence, a step or degree in any scale of
gradation; specifically, a division in an English public school; as,
the boy went up two removes last year.
To change place in any manner, or to make a change in
place; to move or go from one residence, position, or place to another.
To move away from the position occupied; to cause to
change place; to displace; as, to remove a building.
The rain spun in the yellow arc lights over the café parking lot. It was empty inside, except for a fat Negro woman whom I could see through the service window in the kitchen, and a pretty, redheaded waitress in her early twenties, dressed in a pink uniform with her hair tied up on her freckled neck. She was obviously tired, but she was polite and smiled at me when she took my order, and I felt a sense of guilt, almost shame, at my susceptibility and easy fondness for a young woman's smile. Because if you're forty-nine and unmarried or a widower or if you've simply chosen to live alone, you're easily flattered by a young woman's seeming attention to you, and you forget that it is often simply a deference to your age.
