One who tastes; especially, one who first tastes food or
drink to ascertain its quality.
One of a peculiar kind of zooids situated on the polyp-stem
of certain Siphonophora. They somewhat resemble the feeding zooids, but
are destitute of mouths. See Siphonophora.
