"Employ" is a word in LAW AND LEGAL, ENGLISH
To engage ln one’s service; to use as an agent or substitute in transact-lng business; to commission and intrust with the management of one’s affairs; and, when used in respect to a servant or hired laborer, the term is equivalent to hiring, which im-plies a request and a contract for a compen-satlon, and has but this one meaning when used in the ordinary affairs and business of life. sometimes by to; as: (a) To make use of, as an instrument, a means, a
material, etc., for a specific purpose; to apply; as, to employ the pen
in writing, bricks in building, words and phrases in speaking; to
employ the mind; to employ one's energies.
That which engages or occupies a person; fixed or regular
service or business; employment.
To inclose; to infold.
To occupy; as, to employ time in study.
To have or keep at work; to give employment or
occupation to; to intrust with some duty or behest; as, to employ a
hundred workmen; to employ an envoy.
