This is a pleading in chancery, and consists of a denial put in by the plaintiff on behalf of the defendant, generally denying all the statements in the plaintiff's bill The effect of it is to put the plaintiff upon proof of the whole contents of his bill, and is only resorted to for the pur-pose of saving titue, and in a case where the plaintiff can safely dispense with an answer.
