"Tester" is a word in ENGLISH
An old French silver coin, originally of the value of about
eighteen pence, subsequently reduced to ninepence, and later to
sixpence, sterling. Hence, in modern English slang, a sixpence; --
often contracted to tizzy. Called also teston.
A canopy over a bed, supported by the bedposts.
A flat canopy, as over a pulpit or tomb.
A headpiece; a helmet.
The idea was that you could grow a system like the Internet one network at a time and then interconnect them. In some sense, the most important thing was the invention of the architecture protocols that enabled the Internet.
