"Proviso" is a word in LAW AND LEGAL, ENGLISH
A condltion or provision which is inserted in a deed, lease, mortgage, or contract, and on the performance or non-performance of which the validity of the deed, etc., frequently depends; It usually be-glns with the word “provided.”
An article or clause in any statute, agreement, contract,

beginning with the word provided; a conditional stipulation that
affects an agreement, contract, law, grant, or the like; as, the
contract was impaired by its proviso.
The rain spun in the yellow arc lights over the café parking lot. Because if you're forty-nine and unmarried or a widower or if you've simply chosen to live alone, you're easily flattered by a young woman's seeming attention to you, and you forget that it is often simply a deference to your age.
