In ships of war, a kind of naval cadet, whose buslness ls to second or transmit the orders of the superior officers and assist in the necessary business of the vessel, but understood to be in training for a commission. In the English naval service, the second rank attained
by a combatant officer after a term of service as naval cadet. Having
served three and a half years in this rank, and passed an examination,
he is eligible to promotion to the rank of lieutenant.
Formerly, a kind of naval cadet, in a ship of war,
whose business was to carry orders, messages, reports, etc., between
the officers of the quarter-deck and those of the forecastle, and
render other services as required.
In the United States navy, the lowest grade of officers
in line of promotion, being graduates of the Naval Academy awaiting
promotion to the rank of ensign.

Well, they can call me what they like, but I know I am not evil. This is what I know: I am an intuitive woman who instinctively knows that this sacred earth holds healing that western medicine will never be able to replace. I will be here holding space. I will be their witch. So, here I am- A kitchen witch sipping her Rosemary tea, mixing up her herbal potion, dancing under the moon, and fighting for the knowledge & wisdom of our grandmothers to not be forgotten.
