In a general sense, the ascertainment of that which was previously unknown; the disclosure or coming to light of what was previously hidden; the acqnisi-tion of notice or knowledge of given acts or facts; as, in regard to the “discovery” of fraud affecting the running of the statute of limitations, or the granting of a new trial for newly “discovered” evidence. That which is discovered; a thing found out, or for the
first time ascertained or recognized; as, the properties of the magnet
were an important discovery.

The action of discovering; exposure to view; laying
open; showing; as, the discovery of a plot.

Finding out or ascertaining something previously unknown
or unrecognized; as, Harvey's discovery of the circulation of the
blood.

Exploration; examination.

A making known; revelation; disclosure; as, a bankrupt
is bound to make a full discovery of his assets.
