"Devitrification" is a word in ENGLISH
The act or process of devitrifying, or the state
of being devitrified. Specifically, the conversion of molten glassy
matter into a stony mass by slow cooling, the result being the
formation of crystallites, microbites, etc., in the glassy base, which
are then called devitrification products.

The Captain called Vassar and was assured by the Dean that arrangements could be made to send over a dozen of their most trustworthy students. The Captain hesitated, then said, "Would it also be possible to send a dozen or so of the other kind?"
