"Copperas" is a word in ENGLISH
Green vitriol, or sulphate of iron; a green crystalline
substance, of an astringent taste, used in making ink, in dyeing black,
as a tonic in medicine, etc. It is made on a large scale by the
oxidation of iron pyrites. Called also ferrous sulphate.
The idea was that you could grow a system like the Internet one network at a time and then interconnect them. In some sense, the most important thing was the invention of the architecture protocols that enabled the Internet.
